My goal was to make a landscape with the least amount of lines and to create a relaxing atmosphere in this post card illustration.

The first relaxing things that came to mind was the ocean and grass. I researched reference photos for the colours. At that point, I started to do rough line work to help see what elements I wanted to include in this post card illustration. 

One challenge I had with this illustration was creating the grass texture. My solution to this issue was to block in the grass and made individual grass blades that would blend in. 

This would give the illustration a more natural look and less barren.
